Bishop Lambert de la Motte

Born on January 16, 1624 in Lisieux, France.

Baptized at the Church of Jacques on February 15, 1624.

Ordained to Priesthood on December 27, 1655.

Installed as Bishop on June 11, 1660.

Appointed by the Holy Sea to be the Apostolic Vicar of Southern Vietnam in 1669.

Was the first Bishop of the Southern Diocese in Vietnam.

Apostolate Ministry

Ordained the first seven Vietnamese priests in 1669.

Established Saint Joseph Seminary in Asia.

Founded the Lovers of the Holy Cross Congregation in Northern Vietnam in 1670.

Established the Lovers of the Holy Cross Congregation in Southern Vietnam, An Chỉ-Quang Ngai in 1671.

Established the Lovers of the Holy Cross Congregation in Thailand, 1672.

Rested in peace with God on June 15, 1679 in Ayutthaya (Juthia), Thai Lan.
